| 505 | _aThe fishery for Amblveas ter alxm in the south coast of Sri Lanka is carried out by small meshed gill nets with mesh sizes ranging from 28 to 38 tnm. These nets are operated by non mechanised as well as mechanised crafts ' 1 in depths ranging from 20 to 70 m. The catch per unit i ■ i >*' effort of mechanised crafts are higher than that of non T <• . j. ; • mechanised crafts. The best fishing season was obse.rved .to be between November and January. The length frequency data of A.sirni collected during September 1983 to August 1984 was analysed using ELEFAH computer programmes. This has shownjan asymptotic length (Lm ) of 23.0 cm and a growth constant .(k) of 0.93. The exploitation, rate was fonnd to be 0.31. A recruitment i pattern with two pulses separated by five to six months was also observed for this fish stock. | ||
