While very little .work has been done in Sri Lanka on vegetative culturing of Gracilaria edulis, practically no work has been done on culturing Gracilaria by using spores. This paper presents preliminary results obtained during the culture of Gracilaria, using carpospores of the plant. Of rhp Hiffpront r.nhstgata tp.cte/1 for spnrft_sp-tting, synthetic rafia cleaned in freshwater was the most successful. The plant’s growth rate showed a positive correlation with low salinity.
